Q&A Opportunities with V

When I began writing the manuscript for my latest book, there were a number of influences that led to the final product. Yes, my father and I were close and I miss him. I am most like him in personality, work ethic, intellect, sentimentality, and compassion. I even look like him. As a self-proclaimed Daddy’s Girl, having a conversation with my dad was the most authentic approach to everything I wanted to write about at this stage in my life.

Beyond all of that, however, is something much deeper that I hope every one of my readers can take away from my work. The memories I chose to share, the reflections of my past, the words I wrote as a teenager, and the evolution of my grief brought me to who and where I am today. It is not one thing, but all the things. It is not just the sweet and loving, wholesome memories, but also the ones so dark and heavy that they barely make it on the page. It is the reminder that we all suffer in one way or another and while the details of that suffering may differ, it is the experience of pain that can unite us. In other words, even in our darkest hours, we are never really alone. Ever.

Essentially, what I endeavor to teach with every class, workshop, training, one-on-one session, and even each book or post I write is that we are all worthy of the full human experience. Every feeling, every emotion, everything we endure as an individual, human being is valid. If each reader can pick up this book and connect with their own pain, their fears, their anxiety, their depression, their sorrow, then they at least have the opportunity to heal through them as well.

For those who are interested in discussing this and so much more, I will start offering Q&A events followed by workshops later in the year. Many of you have mentioned to me that you have notes, questions and comments and I would love to discuss them all with you. Come see me at either of the upcoming events listed below and let’s plan to chat!

On Saturday, May 16th come purchase books at The Twig between 11am and 1pm during The Pearl Farmer’s Market! Afterwards, let’s hang out and chat as we move to one of the open spaces for an informal Q&A. Bring your questions and comments and let’s get into it!

Come celebrate Filipino culture and all things UBE during this 2nd annual event on Saturday, June 13th from 4pm – 9pm! I’ll have books for sale and would love to see you there. We can talk about your cultural experiences and mine and all that makes up who we are today.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

With Love, V
