I have spent the last several months toggling back and forth between the years before, during, and after my father’s death more than thirty years ago. The result is the publishing of my latest book which is officially out now.

Thirty Years Without You is not a memoir. It is my attempt at continuing those heart-to-hearts with him, started but never finished. Exploring our relationship, my childhood as a first generation Asian American girl, our Filipino Catholic immigrant family, and the processing of my grief before and after losing him make up the colorful mosaic of this extended conversation.
Endeavoring to heal the many layers of love and loss, joy and pain, peace and sorrow with the one person furthest away and yet still accessible through memories and ethereal connection, I sort through the ramblings of me today and long ago in search of something greater than my wounds.
I hope you join me. I hope you choose to read my one-sided, posthumous dialogue and are able to connect with your own experiences of family, joy, fears, and sadness. If only to truly understand you are not alone. For we are never alone.
Join me.
Love, V
